Vaikobi V4 PFD - Tai Paddles Pūhoro Design

  • $24500

CELEBRATING THE CULTURE OF VA’A PADDLING

From casual paddles to race day, the V4 Ocean Racing PFD is built to go the distance. The two PFDs, one in Teal/Black and one in Grey/Pink, blend technical innovation with cultural storytelling, reflecting the values both brands stand for: performance, authenticity, and respect for the ocean and its heritage. Large front storage pockets and a streamlined low-profile fit, designed to move comfortably with you through every paddling session.

Key Features

  • Printed Pūhoro design on front and back panels - representing the dynamic movement of water. Traditionally seen in large-scale tā moko, as well as in whakairo (wood carving) and on the hulls of waka (war canoes), the design is by Māori artist Alex McLeod.
  • Tai Paddles Collab - Tai Paddles logo on front chest, celebrating a shared passion for paddling, performance, and cultural respect.
  • Dual front zip pockets with mesh gusset – Heavy-duty Vislon zippers and 40% more carrying capacity than the previous version, with dedicated routing for a UHF radio aerial or hydration tube.
  • Hydration ready – with 1.5L Hydration Bladder fitting in the rear pockets and 500ml Hydration Bladder sliding into the front pockets
  • Leash attachment hook – Secure connection point at the base of the jacket for ocean safety.
  • Webbing strap covers – Keeps excess webbing tucked away for a clean, low-profile aerodynamic look.
  • Internal secure lanyard – Keeps your safety lanyard accessible but out of the way inside the front pocket.
  • Form-fitting super soft foam – Lightweight construction that moves with your body without restricting your paddle stroke.
  • No side panels – Maximises breathability and airflow during high-output paddling.
  • Ocean racing performance fit – Lightweight, streamlined construction for long-distance paddling comfort.
  • Pūhoro Art by Alex McLeod - Alex is a Māori artist specializing in wood carving, tā moko, and cultural design. Through Ariki Inc, he creates works that honour tradition while connecting it to contemporary expression.
